Iain Watson - Short Biography
Iain, an experienced Scottish bagpiper who originates from Annan in Dumfriesshire, was initially taught the bagpipes by his father Alex. Iain played with the Annan British Legion pipe band who later changed its name to Annan Ex-Service Club. He was a very successful competitor in junior, amateur and professional solo piping competitions.
In 1981 Iain joined Lothian and Borders Police serving in Leith, during this period he played with the Force pipe band winning many prizes at home and abroad. In 1989 he transferred to Strathcylde Police and became a member of the force band, winning many competitions and major championships, including 3 World Championships.
He has been very fortunate to travel throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, The Far East, USA, Canada, South America, Indonesia, Russia, Baltic States, Scandinavia and Iceland. Iain has performed for many famous people and heads of state including her Majesty the Queen.
