Alan has been playing the Scottish Great Highland bagpipes for over 40 years and has played at countless occasions, functions and celebrations such as weddings, birthday parties, ladies nights, Burns nights, ceilidhs, funerals and corporate events. He has also played on television and radio in Britain and abroad, with stage shows, for orchestral performances and with brass and military bands, and at international music and dance festivals. He has played in solo and pipe band competitions in Britain, America, Canada and almost every European country.

Alan plays either a set of 1940s Henderson pipes or early 1900s Lawries with a Sinclair chanter. He is also very experienced in playing for Highland and Scottish Country dancing and is a qualified piping and dance teacher. He can provide Highland dancers and has lots of connections with Scottish Country dance and Ceilidh bands. He and his wife can run a full evening of ceilidh dancing. He has delivered the “address to the haggis” and “The Immortal Memory” many times and will also advise on suitable tunes etc for your occasion.
